New Rhea hatched

Photograph of newly hatched RheaOur first Rhea hatched today. The egg was given to us by Dartmoor Zoo. Here is a picture of it about 10 minutes after hatching. Amazing to think it will grow 5 feet tall! We will follow the Rhea's progress on this website and on our Facebook page.

On Thursday, just two days ago, two little chickens also hatched. We actually watched them hatch in front of our eyes! They will join our existing 26 chickens. Our most interesting chicken is a beautiful Silkie from China called 'Lucky'.
