Santa returns to Fairytale Farm in December 2014

Click here for details of the 2016 Christmas Fairytale event.

Santa is returning to Fairytale Farm this Christmas at weekends from 6th to 21st December and then daily from 22nd to 24th December.

At our magical 'Christmas Fairytale' event, children can meet Santa in his indoor fairytale Grotto and receive a present, join in with various Christmas activities, enjoy all the usual Fairytale Farm attractions and see our enchanting Christmas lights, which are bigger and better this year.

We have designed and built a grotto with a difference, that will appeal to adults as well as children, and all the Christmas activities from last year, including Christmas cookie decorating, mulled wine and mince pies, will return. Plus join in with Santa's Christmas hunt.

The animal areas and adventure playground will be open until dusk, after which we switch on our Christmas lights, creating a wonderland of colour.

Grotto tickets are £4.95, plus normal admission, and this includes Santa visit, gift, Christmas cookie decorating plus the mince pie and mulled wine for the parents. Non-farm visitors can still meet Santa for £7.50.

Please note that Mouse Town - which has been specially themed for Christmas - will only be open between 12.30 and 1.30pm.

Nightmare Farm: The fairytale is over!

Fairytale Farm will be turning down the lights and switching on the scares with a special Halloween event aimed at older children and adults. The event is called Nightmare Farm and sees the fairytale come to an end when the Enchanted Walk is turned into a giant outdoor horror maze with live actors prowling around with only one thing on their mind: to terrify visitors!

Nightmare Farm at Fairytale Farm

The horror maze is based around the legend of Southcombe Abbey, which reputedly stood on the site of Fairytale Farm, but was destroyed by fire several hundred years ago. The ghosts of the lost souls still haunt the Enchanted Walk after dark, but only on 31st October and 1st/2nd November each year. A monk, who guards the site of the abbey at Halloween each year, will help take visitors to safety, but it means walking right through the middle of the most haunted part of the site!

Owner Nick Laister explains: "We held our unique Halloween event last year and the feedback was so good that we are going to do it again, but bigger and better and with more scares. Visitors will be taken on a late-night adventure as an old monk guides people through the most haunted part of the site to safety - we hope! In the horror maze they will meet a possessed flower seller, some horrible scarecrows, vampires, zombies, a not very friendly circus clown plus a gardener from the 17th Century who has an unpleasant use for his spade. Plus some surprises. We challenge people to make it from one end of the Enchanted Walk to the other without screaming. Nobody has done it yet."

The walks will be taking place approximately every 20 minutes between 6.30pm and 10pm on three evenings from 31st October to 2nd November.

Nick adds: "This event is not suitable for younger children or those who are of a sensitive disposition. The actors will not touch anybody, but will be doing their best to scare people silly. But don't worry, the little ones are catered for with our daytime event. We will be offering child-friendly Halloween fun from 10am to 5pm with free games and activities for younger children. We also have face-painting and pumpkin carving and if visitors come dressed up for the occasion they will receive a free treat. And just before we close at 5pm ready for the evening maze, we will switch on our fantastic illuminations and light up the Enchanted Walk in a blaze of colour. Our Halloween events - day and night - will be memorable."

Please note that the playground and animal areas will not be open in the evenings, but our cafe and shop will remain open throughout the evening Halloween event.

Fairytale Farm in the Oxford Mail

The Oxford Mail has featured Fairytale Farm's Halloween event in a major article on spooky events across Oxfordshire.

The article features a big picture of Fairytale Farm's actors, who will be roaming around our Enchanted Walk every evening from 31 October to 2 November, scaring visitors who dare to enter 'Nightmare Farm'.

It also mentions the family behind Fairytale Farm, who will be running the event with their own children involved. The event runs for three evenings from 6.30pm to 10pm.

Click here to view a larger version of the article.

For those who are too frightened to try Nightmare Farm - which is not recommended for younger children - family activities will be running throughout the day from 31 October to 2 November.

More details on our Halloween events can be found here.

And don't forget that Fairytale Farm is open right through the October half term and our Enchanted Walk is illuminated every evening from dusk. We stay open until two hours after dusk each day.

Our illuminated evenings return from 6th September

Photo of illuminated features at Fairytale FarmWe will be illuminating our popular Enchanted Walk again this year every Saturday and Sunday evening in September and October, plus during the October half term, and we will stay open until two hours after dusk each day.

The park will be open all day as normal, but when daylight fades the entire Enchanted Walk will become a magical wonderland of fairy lights, which will delight children and adults. The Mermaid Garden, Giant's Camera, The Extinct Band, Giant Party Poppers, and Light Fountains will be a blaze of colour and the Hex Water Fountain will be lit in ever changing colours. We also have new and updated features that were not part of last year's line-up.

We have a new mermaid, who lights up internally and looks beautiful, and our new Sleeping Beauty and Hansel & Gretel displays will excite children. There is an all-new Extinct Band, who are brighter and more colourful than ever.

Normal admission prices apply during the day, and visitors can stay on and watch the lights in the evening. For visitors arriving after 5pm, there will be a discounted entry price of £2 for adults and £1.75 for children and senior citizens, which will allow access to all the sections of the farm until dusk, and the illuminated sensory trail after dusk. The Beanstalk Cafe will be open throughout with a choice of hot and cold snacks.

The adventure playground and animal areas will close at dusk as the lights come on, so be sure to arrive in good time so you don't miss all that Fairytale Farm has to offer in the daylight. Our reduced price admission after 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays means that there is time to see the whole park in the daylight before the lights are switched on, which is great value. And, don't forget, our annual pass holders can visit for free, as many times as they like.

We are open every day until 2 November with the illuminations being switched on every Saturday and Sunday at dusk and throughout the October half term. See photographs of last year's display here. (Note that the illuminations will not be available after 5pm on 31 October and 1st/2nd November because of our Halloween event).
